The Task

Yonex, a renowned name in professional tennis equipment, approached us needing a series of high-quality 3D product animations to highlight the features of their new VCORE 100 tennis racket. The goal was to create six high-quality 3D product animations, each focusing on a specific aspect of the racket's design.

The Process

Modeling and Texturing

We received 3D CAD files for the racket frame, and Yonex was also able to provide us with a physical sample to ensure accuracy. This proved instrumental in fleshing out the 3D model since the CAD file did not include all of the components that make up the design.

Using thesample, photographic references, and 2D artwork files, our team was able to build out and complete the missing components such as the grip, strings, grommets, and bumper guards, our team was able to build out the. This ensured that we had a fully textured 3D model ready for animation.

Animation and Effects

From the animation standpoint, Yonex provided visual references and descriptions for each 15-second animation sequence.

Throughout the course of each 15 second sequence, they wanted slow and steady camera movements with a specific focus on each area of interest we were highlighting.

We used slow and steady camera movements to focus on specific features. Once the animation sequences were approved, we began to finalize the look of each shot with some high-end lighting featuring a subtle fog and a lava-style effect to help highlight the strings, grip, and internal frame construction.

After all our previews were approved, we rendered out the final quality animation and composited all the frames together to truly bring these shots to life.

The Results

The animations effectively showcased features like the aerodynamic frame, string sync grommets, and vibration dampening mesh. Each animation served to highlight a unique aspect of the VCORE 100, providing a comprehensive visual presentation.
